Innovations in Agriculture

innovative farms that produce food with no pesticides or fertilizers

focusing on innovative and unique farms in Alberta that are testing, practicing, and improving new methods in agriculture to enhance the long term sustainability of agriculture, and make it more environmentally friendly. In each episode we visit one of these unique farms. Hosted by Tyrone Thacker, a First Nations man who has worked in agriculture for many years providing on farm services to a variety of farms. This has given him unique insight into some very interesting practices new that are being employed and developed. These are often techniques that the farmers themselves found through their own research in farming peer groups and other avenues that farmers use to share knowledge. Often these groups include farmers from all over the globe sharing information. They come across these techniques that they believe will enhance and improve environmentally sustainability on their farm, see value in them, and then begin implementing them on their farm operations. They often find that these techniques have to be adapted to meet their unique farm needs and begin innovating to find out what works best for their particular circumstance. The goal of this show is to showcase and highlight these unique innovators, so that other farmers, or individuals interested in getting into farming, who are driven by the values of environmental sustainability, and generational food security, can learn more about new techniques; and if they feel those techniques would be a good fit for their farm, begin the process of adopting those techniques to their operation.
