Papa Joe Aviance

PREMIUM | Culture Your Creative | Season 1

Papa Joe Aviance was a successful clothing designer, musician and CEO of his LA-based production company, Papa Joe Networks. This triple threat was able to achieve his success because of his drive, ambition and electric positivity. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Papa Joe saw first-hand the importance of a strong work ethic. His grandfather's own business savvy inspired him to travel the world as a successful businessman, eventually moving to New York City to work his way up the ranks on Wall Street for several high profile companies. However, seeking an outlet for his creativity, Papa Joe moved to Hollywood in 2002 to pursue a career in acting and music. Papa Joe Aviance started off his acting career years ago when he weighed a hefty 450 lbs. His most prominent features were a Disney commercial and The Dave Chappelle Show. He was also doing music at the time and was featured in his first music video, "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" with Lula, which hit #6 on the Billboard Magazine Dance Charts. He did not like his body or the way that he appeared in the video and decided that it was time to lose the weight that he had been carrying around for years. He started walking and he never stopped. In 18 months, Papa Joe had successfully lost over 250 lbs. He also sought frugal solutions to the challenge of eating healthy, buying fresh and wholesome foods at discount grocery stores. 250 pounds lighter, Papa Joe spread his gospel of wellness. "I want people to be as happy as I am," he would say, "and part of that is being healthy." Because of this, he has been featured on local and national shows such as, Live BIG with Ali Vincent, Rachael Ray (recurring), The Doctors, Good Morning America and Home and Family. He was also the primary red carpet host for KNEKT TV, hosting countless red Carpet shows including being the official Daytime Creative Arts Emmys red carpet and post awards show host.
