Senator Lester Jackson currently serves in the Georgia General Assembly as a fourth term senator, representing the 2nd district. Senator Jackson previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives for 10 years, then went on to be elected to the State Senate, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Urban Affairs Committee. Aside from his political career, Senator Jackson is a also nationally renowned healthcare provider who has received numerous awards, including being honored by the Georgia Dental Association as the Legislator of the Year and received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Dental Association. In addition, SenatorJackson was voted by his legislative peers as the Georgia Black Caucus Legislator of the Year and currently serves as their chairman, the Georgia Black Caucus being one of the largest in the nation. Senator Jackson was also commissioned as a naval officer, proudly serving seven years as a dental officer for the United State Navy where he obtained the rank of Lt. Commander in four years.
